UK Cheap Flights
New flight route to Lille announced
It will soon be a lot easier, and probably cheaper, for British travellers to fly to Lille after a low-cost airline announced a new direct route to the city.
bmi regional will begin operating the first-ever direct air route between the French airport and the UK from April 23rd.
Direct flights will link Leeds Bradford Airport with the city in northern France for six days a week, with flight schedules designed to be convenient for both leisure and business travellers.
The schedule has been devised to also offer handy connections at Leeds Bradford to and from Edinburgh and Glasgow airports.
France's third-largest city, Lille has been growing in popularity as a tourist destination in recent years and the formerly industrial character of the city has been transformed by regeneration, making it into a cultural and artistic mecca.
Managing director of bmi regional Stewart Adams said: "Leeds and Lille already share a common and special link with their twin-city status.
"This important new air link will not only serve to strengthen that bond in terms of both business and tourism, but will also raise their respective profiles and encourage more opportunities."
bmi regional is the UK's most punctual and reliable airline, according to Civil Aviation Authority statistics.
